Dark areas inside the hair areas are the shadows that Vray produces. Proper gamma workflow is essential for realistic rendering of hair. I don't know what the ColorMapping option is for. Lots of materials causes troubles!?
I am not seeing an update in their website, either. The new official V-Ray for Cinema 4D product page at chaosgroup. You can also turn OFF the color mapping management in solidrocks see SR configuration panel and manage color mapping by hand if your prefer.

Submitted by subburb on Mon, Not here, where solirdocks and designers show their work. The preferred method for rendering objects with the VRayHairMtl material is with GI enabled, Primary engine set to Brute force, and the Secondary engine set to Light cache with the Retrace threshold enabled.

SolidRocks Submitted by subburb on Thu, I am very diappointed and don't know what other user in here use this program for and most of all why they praise. Submitted by anao on Tue, SolidRocks and RT works fine together. Submitted by malevy on Fri, When I launch it, the starting Solidrocks dialog doesn't go away and nothing I set sticks. This can be troublesome because deleting this manually takes some skill related to removing Windows applications by hand.
